The body of a Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader was hanged from a tree in mysterious conditions within Jammu and Kashmir’s Kathua district on Tuesday, according to officials.
A local saw Som Raj body hanging on a branch the distance of his home in Hiranagar town early in the morning and reported the incident to the police, as they claimed.
The body, with blood marks, was taken to a hospital for post-mortem, the officials stated.
Sources said Raj was missing for the past three days.
Police have filed a complaint and began an investigation, officials said.
Raj’s family claimed that he was killed and they demanded that the government offer justice to them.
Many BJP officials, who visited Raj’s house, demanded an inquiry into the cause of his death.
