04 militants killed in Shopian were involved in 6 cases, says IGP Kashmir

Four newly recruited militants affiliated with Lashkar-e-Toiba were killed in a gunfight at Badigam village of Zainapora hamlet in south Kashmir’s Shopian district, police said Thursday.

Shopian accident: Three soldiers killed, five other injured

Shopian: Three Army soldiers were killed and five others were injured when a vehicle they were traveling in overturned near Kanipora village, enroute to an encounter site at Badigam area in south Kashmir’s Shopian district on Thursday.

“Owing to the wet road conditions, the driver seemingly lost control over the vehicle and it skidded off the road,” Defence ministry based spokesman in Srinagar said in a statement to GNS. Read More

Electricity will be free in J&K: Jitendra Singh

Jammu: Union Minister of State (MoS) Jitendra Singh on Thursday said that the Central government is working towards making electricity free in Jammu and Kashmir in the next 4-5 years by installing solar plants.

The BJP leader, who is in the UT to review the security and other preparedness for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to J&K this month, added that Jammu and its power mechanism will become a role model for other states amid the chaos regarding the inflation.

“After 4-5 years, electricity will be free. So on one side, where there’s so much chaos regarding the inflation, Jammu will become a role model depicting the alternatives we have,” Singh said. Read More

JKBOSE withdraws syllabus relaxation for class 10-12 students in exams

With the resumption of offline classes at the schools amid a decline in COVID-19 cases, the J&K Board of School Education (BOSE) has withdrawn the relaxation provided to the students in the annual board examinations of classes 10-12 over the past few years.
