Encounter rages in South Kashmir’s Kulgam district, two army men injured

Srinagar: Encounter broke out between militants and security forces in ChakiSamad area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Saturday.

Reports reaching GNS that a joint team of police and army launched a cordon and search operation in ChakiSamad.

As the joint team of forces approached the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon the forces, triggering off a gunfight.

A senior police officer also confirmed to GNS about exchange of firing between militants and security forces.

Two army troopers have received injuries during the initial exchange of fire in ChakiSamad area of DH pora in the Kulgam district.

An official told news agency—KNO that two troopers identified as Rohit Yadav and Ankesh Kumar were injured during initial exchange of fire.

Both have received splinter injuries in their thighs and have been shifted to hospital for treatment, he said.

Meanwhile another encounter is underway in Srihama area of Anantnag district.
