Jammu: The weatherman on Saturday predicted light to moderate rains that may bring the respite from the scorching heat that Jammu and Kashmir is reeling under for the last few days.
On Saturday Srinagar recorded a day temperature of 31.3°C which was more than 1.3°C than yesterday in the summer capital.
While Jammu saw a maximum of 43.5°C against the previous day’s 41.1°C.
Meanwhile, the official told that Srinagar recorded a low of 14.2°C against 14.1°C on the previous night. The temperature, he said, was 3.6°C above normal during this time of the year for the summer capital.
The Meteorological (MeT) department here predicted that the prevalent weather conditions would continue till May 16.
The MeT officials said that there is a 70 percent possibility of rains at some places in Jammu and Kashmir from May 16 evening to May 18, adding that some higher reaches would also receive fresh snowfall.
“The widespread moderate rain/thunderstorm with hailstorm at some places of Jammu and Kashmir and snow over higher reaches is most likely during May 16 evening to May 18,” the MeT officials said.
