In view of Lumpy Skin Disease outbreak; Govt bans import of bovines into J&K, inter-district movement

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir government Thursday declared a complete ban on the imports of bovines from states bordering the state and bovines moving between districts within the UT for any purpose up to the 25th of October 2022, due to the Lumpy Skin Disease outbreak.

The decision has been made in the interest of protection and in the light of the declaration of the entire UT of J&K as a “Controlled Area” for Lumpy Skin Disease pursuant to S.0 424 dated 05.09.2022 and exercising powers granted by section 10(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious and Contagious Diseases Act, 2009. News agency GNS reported an order that said.

The order also stated that the decision would be reviewed in light of the evolving circumstances.
