J&K Waqf Board identifies land for a cancer hospital in Eidgah Srinagar

Srinagar: It is reported that the J&K Waqf Board has identified the site for a planned cancer hospital in Kashmir in the Eidgah area of Srinagar and Chairperson Darakhshan Andrabi said that the foundation stone for the hospital will be laid by the Union home minister Amit Shah shortly.

Andrabi told the media that the cancer center was scheduled to come up near the Hazrat Sultan ul Arifeen (RA) shrine however, the Department of Archaeology didn’t allow the construction of a structure there.

She added that a large portion of Waqf land which is approximately 650 kanals across Eidgah is available. the encroachment is going to be removed and 60 to 80 kanals of land will be allocated to the cancer hospital so that the less fortunate and needy patients can get some peace. “This is the time when a cancer hospital has to come up and if the step is not taken at this juncture, it can never be taken in the future, ” she added.

In response to questions about the laying of the foundation stones for the Cancer hospital, she stated, “We have requested the Home Minister Amit Shah and he will likely lay the foundation stone of the hospital.”

“We have been receiving mails and phone calls about the cancer hospital as the people are ready to donate for the great cause,” she added.

Concerning the arrest of religious clerics, she stated Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha has been informed about the incident and that it will be investigated and innocent people will be released as they were in the past.

“We also appeal to the government to take action against the political leaders, who have been making controversial statements,” she added.
