MeT says night temperatures above normal in J&K

According to officials, most places experienced above-normal night temperatures, except for Jammu, Katra, and Gulmarg, where rainfall was recorded last evening. In the past 24 hours, Jammu received 18.9mm of rain, Katra received 18.8mm, Kathua received 48.6mm, and Gulmarg received 9.2mm.

The meteorological department official stated that the forecast until June 23 predicts mainly dry weather, although a brief spell of showers or thunderstorms in the late afternoon or evening cannot be ruled out.

The official also mentioned that hot and humid weather is expected for the next five days throughout Jammu and Kashmir. From June 24 to 26, light to moderate rain with thunder and lightning is likely at scattered to fairly widespread places (60%).

Regarding the minimum temperature, Srinagar recorded a low of 16.9°C, which was 2.1°C above normal. Qazigund recorded a low of 15.2°C, above normal by 1.9°C. Pahalgam recorded a low of 9.6°C, 1.1°C above normal. Kupwara and Kokernag recorded temperatures within the normal range.

In Gulmarg, the temperature settled at 10.5°C, above normal by 1.2°C. Jammu recorded a low of 21.7°C, below normal by 3.8°C. Banihal, Batote, Katra, and Bhaderwah also had varying temperature deviations from normal. Leh and Kargil in Ladakh recorded lows of 8.8°C and 11.2°C, respectively.
