Night temp rises as MeT forecasts rains, thunderstorm in J&K

According to a meteorological department official, Jammu and Kashmir experienced an increase in night temperatures, although they remained below normal in several places.

The official mentioned that there is a forecast for rain, thunderstorms, and lightning in some areas of Kashmir and Jammu over the next 24 hours.

From May 15-16, there could be a brief period of rain and thunderstorms in isolated places, followed by the possibility of light rain and thunderstorms in scattered areas from May 17-19.

However, no significant rainfall is expected in the next week.

In terms of specific temperatures, Srinagar recorded a low of 10.9°C, which was slightly above the normal temperature for this time of year.

Qazigund had a low of 8.0°C, below normal by 1.2°C. Pahalgam recorded a low of 5.0°C, just below normal.

In Kupwara, the temperature settled at 6.7°C, significantly below normal by 3.9°C. Kokernag recorded a low of 10.5°C, slightly above normal.

Gulmarg had a low of 8.0°C, above normal by 2.5°C.

Jammu recorded a low of 23.5°C, which was normal for the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir.

Other places such as Banihal, Batote, Katra, Bhaderwah, and Leh also had their respective temperature readings, with some being below normal and others above normal.
