Amid predictions of hot and humid weather, the night temperatures in most areas of Jammu and Kashmir were higher than usual on Thursday, according to officials.
In Srinagar, the temperature dropped to 20.5°C compared to 19.7°C the previous night, which was 4.79°C above the normal for this time of year.
Qazigund, a town in Kashmir, recorded a low of 17.2°C, slightly above the normal temperature for the area.
Pahalgam, a popular tourist destination in south Kashmir, had a low of 11.3°C, which was 2.2°C higher than the usual temperature.
In Kupwara town, the temperature settled at 17.4°C, which was 3.3°C above normal for the region.
Kokernag had a low of 17.7°C, slightly higher than the average temperature for the location.
Gulmarg, a famous skiing resort in north Kashmir, recorded a low of 13.5°C, which was 3.8°C above the normal temperature.
In Jammu, the temperature dropped to 27.8°C compared to 30.5°C the previous night, which was higher than the usual temperature for the winter capital of Jammu and Kashmir.
Other areas like Banihal, Batote, Katra, and Bhaderwah also experienced temperatures above or below normal.
Regarding the forecast, the meteorological department expects mainly dry weather until June 23, but there may be a brief shower or thunderstorm in some places in the late afternoon or evening. From June 24-28, generally cloudy weather with occasional light to moderate thundershowers is expected in many areas, with a possibility of intense showers in some parts of Jammu Division for a short period.
