In a tragic incident in the Sumbal area of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, a sister drowned while attempting to rescue her brother who was drowning in a river.

According to GNS, a young man named Nazakat Ali (21) drowned while bathing in the Shadipora river this morning. Upon hearing the news, several onlookers and locals rushed to rescue the boy. In the midst of the rescue efforts, the sister of the drowned boy desperately jumped into the river to save her brother.

Although the boy was successfully rescued, tragically, the girl lost her life during the retrieval process from the water.

The deceased girl has been identified as Nuzhat Afzal (18).

Meanwhile, the rescued boy has been referred to JVC Hospital in critical condition.

A police official confirmed the incident and stated that they are gathering necessary details regarding the tragic event.
