Tragic Gas Cylinder Explosion Claims Life of 58-Year-Old Woman in Old Srinagar

On Saturday in the Ali Kadal area of old Srinagar, a tragic incident unfolded as a 58-year-old woman lost her life due to a gas cylinder catching fire and exploding. The explosion not only claimed her life but also caused significant damage to a nearby three-storey house. Thankfully, the diligent efforts of the Fire and Emergency Department prevented the fire from spreading further in the congested locality.

According to official sources, the unfortunate incident occurred while Nafeesa (58), the woman in question, was inside the kitchen of the house. The gas cylinder caught fire and exploded, instantly causing her death. Local residents mentioned that Nafeesa had been in poor health for an extended period and mostly confined to her bed.

The fire rapidly spread and engulfed the entire three-storey house, resulting in substantial damage. However, prompt action was taken as fire tenders swiftly arrived at the scene, managing to bring the blaze under control.

In response to the incident, a police official confirmed that a case has been registered, and investigations are currently underway to determine the exact cause and circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
