Two LeT militants arrested in Sopore with weapons and ammo

Sopore: Police claim to have detained two LeT militants, along with ammunition and arms in the Sopore region of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, on Wednesday night.

According to a police spokesman the suspects Imtiyaz Ahmad Ganai, S/o Abdul Rahim Ganai and Waseem Ahmad Lone S/o Ghulam Lone, both of whom reside in Botingoo Sopore were apprehended during the search and cordon in the village conducted by a joint team comprising Sopore Police along with 22 the RR, 179 Bn of CRP, Det Marcos following a tip-off.

Upon their personal searches, the 01 Pistol, 01 Magazine and 08 Pistol rounds were recovered from the belongings of Imtiyaz Ahmad Ganai and 01 Chinese Hand Grenade was recovered from Waseem Ahmad Lone, Police stated.

“During preliminary questioning, the duo revealed that they were working as a hybrid terrorist and OGW respectively for LeT and at the behest of active LeT terrorist Bilal Hamza Mir S/o Mohammad Hamza Mir of Brath Kalan Sopore were planning to attack security forces and civilians in and around Sopore area, ” it said.

A case was filed at Police Station Sopore under relevant legal provisions in this respect.
